2008/12/07 - Sunday - Flying and Fixing

This weekend was a blast. Saturday we did something that we have never done before. We went hang gliding at Dockweiler Beach – see pics – Everybody had fun. I did get the most air on my second to last flight – o what fun we had.

Sunday I worked on the RV. I fixed the metal box that the flat tire banged up on Thanksgiving night. Eric even helped me out getting the box out and then put back in after the box looked more like a box then a squished box. I was so glad that Eric didn’t even put up a fuss about helping me with working on the RV.

I then started working on getting one of the RV storage cabinet cleaned up and organized again.

Dan called so I went and helped him with his RV to fix a flat tire. We did empty my tank of nitrogen trying to get his tires filled up to 110 psi. We also took apart the city water connection so he could replace it (it was leaking.)

Once back at home, I got caught up on all photos for the blogs.

2008/11/24 – Monday – Found it!

I really need to get the ARB working on the Jeep so I have my lockers working.

So, I started on getting the side panel off. Unscrewed three screws and two bolts and the panel finally moved out of the way.

I check several wires. The probe showed I had power in places, but not in all place. I ran wires to get the pump to work – yes it pump. Then I tried to cross the wires, but still the pump would not start.

Finally I found a fuse holder, well – yep the fuse was no good. I need to replace the 30amp. I could not find one, but I wanted to try it out, so I put a 15amp fuse and it worked – of course that fuse blew, but the pump did work for a short time.

So tomorrow I will buy a complete set with a few extras and I should be good.

2008/11/23 – Sunday – Argument

The morning started with me working on Eric shot glass case. I cut pieces of plexi-glass and three times I skinned my wrist – so now I have three areas of skin that is nice a pink. I did get his cases covered with the plexi-glass. Now I just need to hang them up in his room.

Cheryl and I went to the store and the event for the day started without me knowing.

I noticed a kid was going to leave a shopping cart in the empty parking spot between use and I asked him “please” to move the cart up out of the way so a car could park there. We (Cheryl and I) headed into the grocery store to do some shopping.

About three aisles later, at lady approached me and ask if I had said something to her kid. I said yes and then proceeded to tell her what I stated. She then would not let things go. How dare I correct her son, How dare I say anything, I should have said it to her. But the problem with that is she was already in her car and I just asked the kid. One of her statement was that she was outside and could see my scorning face, but later she said she was in her car. Then get this – she had to bring the race card into it. At the beginning Cheryl tried to get me to step away, but I refused, she left and continued shopping.

The store manager finally had to come to break things up. She just would not let things go and continued to argue with anybody that was going to deal with her.

I finally got to state my side of the store with the manager and left my name and number with him.

We finally checkout and while we where leaving, I noticed she was with the manager with her three kids going into his office – she just would not let it go.

Later, I had to return to get a rolling pin for Cheryl, but they did not have one, but I did talk to the manager again. He event stated that he has had that type of problem before with other kids and parents in the store. (When a kid was doing something that they shouldn’t).

This country is going in the hell whole. I do really believe in the adage of the village helps in the raising of the kids, but some parents just don’t understand it!

I did go to Wal-Mart go get the rolling pin.

Cheryl started working on the mints, while I finally got the vacation items photographed – thimbles, playing cards, and shot glasses.

Now we need to buy Eric a new holder because we have filled all three of his shot glass holders also we need to buy another for the larger size shot glasses. Amanda still has some room, but we need to get another one for the larger thimbles.

2008/11/22 – Saturday – Friends

J.A. spent the night. This morning we worked on destroying all my old 5” and 3” cds and took the morning.

Amanda, Eric and Mom D went to a Long Beach Cert Training class; Eric and Mom D volunteered to be victims and Amanda was the photographer for the event.

2008/11/16 – Sunday – Less Smoke for Us

When we got up in the morning, the fires where still going, but the smoke was less for us. Looking out in the back yard we could see all the ash we had all over things.

We watched more of the fire coverage.

Cheryl and Eric stayed home, while Amanda and I went to the Croakers Dance. We had two squares of a visiting club.

I did call JM again and they are back in their home and all is ok with them. I was glad. But the fire had shifted, so I emailed another friend and he was ok and still far enough away.

Chris did come back to the house and we watch football and went over our fantasy football/hockey teams.

2008/11/15 – Saturday – Smokey

I had things planned today, but first it was off with Mom D and Cheryl to the winery. We got our spirits for the holidays.

Next on the agenda turned out to be the fires that are happening in the LA area. I found out a very good friend of mine from work lost her house. She and her partner and their cats all got out last night safely, but lost their house.

Cheryl and Amanda did some shopping, while I watch the news about the fires.

Cheryl went to her nail appointment.

I started on the hall closet and was doing a little de-cluttering.

Mom D called about her bike not starting, so she came and got me to help her with that. I got her bike started and she took it to the dealer to get it fixed.

Since I was out with Mom D she wanted a better antenna for the new digital TV signal, well that did not work so we returned that for a different on and that one worked – I might have to by that one, instead of the current setup I have now (with the aluminum foil on it.)

Once I got back home I put the stuff back in the hall closet.

I got a status about the bike – well it not good; it will coast us about $500 to fix it. So now I am going to see if the original dealer will work with me to get it fixed – not good!

I watched more the fire reports. While watching I noticed that the Brea fire was really close to another friends place so I called J.M. Yep he was on mandatory evacuation. He was getting things ready to leave, but he was staying as LONG as possible. His wife had left to find a place to stay for the night.

On Friday we worked on Amanda computer and blew it away – installed XP back on to it. So I still could not find the driver disk for the computer. I worked on my pile of CD/DVD and organized my collection trying to find it – but no luck on that front.

The smoke from the Brea fire was really bad for us. We shut all the windows and Cheryl was having problems breathing because of the Smoke.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

2008/11/10 – Monday – Maintenance

Well tonight I have updated all the blogs formats to be layouts (it a blogger thing). So now if I want to change things it will be easier (not that I change it much.)

O and I am up to date on everything for posting wise…

2008/11/09 – Sunday – Rain and Wind

We got up to rain, so I got wet putting things away. We could tell in the distant that it was really raining. It was also snowing up high – we could see the snow line.

I think this was our first time in a long time that we left by 10:00. Before leaving we did stop at the main camp and said our goodbyes.

The wind was blowing strong on our drive.

B.S. and our Family stopped at Kramer Junction for gas and lunch.

We had just left Kramer Junction and a fellow DD had lost his awning on his RV so we stopped and helped him. The awning just ripped completely off no real damage other then the wholes where the screws were located.

We also stopped at the I15 and 395 to dump our tanks.

We got home and got the RV cleaned out.

So now we are doing the laundry and watching football.

2008/11/08 – Saturday – South Park

Well I picked South Park to Pleasant run. It has been even longer sense I have done that.

CJ and I got ready on time and headed for lineup at 7:30. Once in line I became one of the trail crew. We got going at 8:00.

We bypassed Balarat and headed for the start of South Park canyon trail. Some people aired down their tires. I had to get the First Aid box out get some Band-Aids and some alcohol to try to clean a girl’s trip.

Once we got to the Brigs mine B.S. had to turn around because he was having problems keeping it running.

I was asked to pull in behind the leader and help spot the Chicken Wire Corner. The leader went through and once I was through, CJ drove the Jeep up to where the leader stopped, while I spotted the rest of the group trough the corner. I had only one guy that did not have his front hubs engaged, so with a little hat beat, all was ok.

We made it to the Ranch by noon and had our lunch.

After lunch we headed for Middle Park and up to the saddle on Pleasant Canyon. A group was already there so down the canyon we go.

We did stop for a 10:100 on the way down.

When we got down to where the water comes out of the ground, that area have had a fire and you can still smell it – I am not sure when the fire occurred. It was sad to see that it was burned, but you can start seeing green again.

We got done and back to camp about 3:30 – so a good fun ride.

Dinner was good as always.

Later I found out that Cheryl had high-centered the Van trying to get it to the RV after they went and got stuff for the raffle during the day.

Eric was the only winner for the kids and adult raffle.

The wind started up about 10:00pm and it never let up.

2008/11/07 – Friday – Two Runs.

Up bright and early. I got to the start of my trail ride and held my drivers meeting for my Jail Canyon ride. Over ¾ have never done the trail and about ½ of them never been to PVD.

The group moved really well. We made to the end at the adopt-a-cabin and were able to park about 48 vehicles. We did have one vehicle not get all the way up to the cabin with out overheating.

We got back into camp about 12:30 – so a quick good trip.

Amanda and I made lunch and we got ready again for the next trail.

We left on time at 2:00 for the Lookout City / Sunset Run. The group made it to the top, again, with out any major issue. We did have one guy leave his truck at the bottom of waterfall zero and caught a ride up to the top.

We watch the colors on the mount range change as the sun was setting.

We made it back to camp by 6:00. I was able to relax and visit with friends.

Cheryl, Eric and CJ finally arrived for the weekend.

2008/11/06 – Thursday - Relaxing

Once I got up, I did some research on about the work phone working on the UMA and I finally got it to work.

I got all caught up on all of my blog reading.

Did some socializing and came back to the RV and took a nap.

Hard Rock CafĂ© was open, so we got dinner. Some more socializing and back to the RV to watch a good movie – Radio.

Tomorrow up and early for my two trail rides.

2008/11/05 – Wednesday - Leaving for PVD Early

I got up at my normal time for work (with the help from Cheryl).

Getting the RV ready and then the Jeep took a little longer then I like, but Amanda and I left the house around 10:30.

We did stop at Fresh and Easy to get some last minute items. The next stop was at Glob to top off the propane in the RV.

I had a lot of wind going up the I15, so that was no fun fighting that.

I stopped in Kramer Junction to fuel up.

We made into camp by 3:30 and got things all setup.

Amanda did cook dinner.

We did go over to talking with M&B, then R&G and R.L., and before heading back to the RV, we chatted with G for a little bit in his new RV (new to him).

Once back at the RV we watch Journey to the Center of the Earth and I worked on making sure all the BLOG were updated.

2008/11/02 – Sunday – Friends

Saturday I got up early and started picking things up around the house and started the laundry. I did take the RV and Trailer over to get one of the trailer tires replaced.

Cheryl made her seven-layer dip. We went over to one of our friends for a game night. We did plan for the Easter Week on where we wanted to go – AZ. And they also planned for the New Years activates. Once that was done, we ate dinner and then started the game.

Today, I woke up with a sore throat so it will be interesting this week. Now I am doing the rest of the laundry and watching football.

2008/10/30 – Thursday – Day of Concerns

I got a phone in the morning about Eric being hit by a car. He is fine; in fact he made it to school and all it ok. But of course I was concern about him!

After lunch with a friend and both got sick from what we at. We have eaten there several times in the past and were ok, but this time we both got sick. I went ahead and went home early, the other went home early also.

Cheryl got her knee MRI done; we won’t know the results for at least 3 days,

I did take a good nap before heading out.

Tonight was also our night out at Glendale Centre Theatre. I barely made it all night without any problems, I still do not feel good, and hopefully tomorrow I will be ok.

2008/10/25 – Saturday – Last Two Days – LATE!

Lets start with Thursday 2008/10/23 – Chris came up and we headed off to go to a collage hockey game, but the first place was closed, the second had no idea, finally we found where the game was going to be held. Well, the game started about 10:45 and lasted until 12:30 am. The team from San Diego won! 11 to 3.

I got a chill and did not sleep well at all. I was miserable when I got up for work and most of the day.

But the lateness was not over; we had tickets for Amanda and I for Knots Scary Farm. We had fun and I found out that Amanda does not like mazes, but at least I got her into one of them. We got home about 2 in the morning.

I was able to sleep in a little bit, but I was up by 10:30. So maybe tonight I will get some good sleep.

I did go over to today and work on Mom’s toilet and fixed that, but in doing that, now my back is hurting me.

I hope I can get a good night sleep and be able to relax and watch football tomorrow!

2008/10/19 – Sunday – SQ and Football

I needed to go into work while Cheryl and the kids went to the Croakers Monthly Dance.

They had dinner afterwards.

CJ, Chris, and his mom came over afterwards and we watched football and talked about all the fantasy football, Hockey and the baseball game. A good evening with friends.

2008/10/18 – Saturday – Class

Amanda and I went to a beginner’s photo class. It was very basic. Amanda did learn something and I did get one item out of it. Now we just need to find when we can to the next level of class.

Cheryl also got her nails done.

We got home before she got home.

Sometime during the afternoon, I took a nap. Hmmm – must have been tired.

2008/10/17 – Friday – Movie Night

We went for a movie tonight – we watched - The Duchess

So it was nice to relax and enjoy some movie time.

2008/10/16 – Thursday – Need to catch up on things

A few of the highlights…
-The new bike is in the shop getting the overheating resolved and fluids changed.
-Both of us have taken the motorcycle class and passed, so now Cheryl will just have to turn in the paper work and I will have to take the written test.
-Eric has been picked on at school and now we are trying to deal with it.
-Amanda is not doing her schoolwork as much as we like, but she is a least progressing.
-In September, work sent me to DC for staff week.
-We lost Opal and Cheryl said we are not going to replace him.

We are still taking picture each day, but I need to work on that and start back posting them.
Hope all is well out there and the politics is always interesting if you try to look at all sides!

2008/08/03 – Sunday – No Go

Well, I got up ready for Amanda’s last Caller class. She never did get up in the morning, so we missed the class – I am not happy, but what can I do…

In the afternoon, Mom D brought her patio set, so we now have a new to us patio set. It will make it into the photo a day. I am still doing the photos a day, I just need to start posting them again, as well as finish the posting the Family Adventure photo of Vacation.

I did make sure Amanda call the Caller Class instructor to make sure she stated she like the class and sorry for missing the last day of class.

Cheryl did go out to get dinner and I started on the laundry piles.

Saturday, August 02, 2008

2008/08/02 – Saturday – More Calling

We got up and Amanda and I left for the today’s caller’s class.

Cheryl and Eric got picked up by Mom D, and they headed to an area square dance president meeting.

Amanda stomach did not agree with what she got from Starbucks this morning, so she did not do any calling – she did participate in the discussions during the class.

Class was over at 4:00.

I wanted to get some ride time on the bike, so I took a trip around the block. The bike did take a little bit to get it started, but it did run good.

Cheryl finally convinced me that she needs a new phone. (Yes the phone was partly broken but it was still working.) 2 hours later and $200 later, she has a palm phone and Amanda got a new phone (she paid for hers from her allowance.)

Thanks to Lisa, she took us out for dinner, we went to TGIF.

Friday, August 01, 2008

2008/08/01 – Friday – Class Again

Amanda and I went to Amanda’s calling class. We got to class right on time. She is doing ok. I danced for the two hours. Each of the students taught the move that they were assigned.

Well, another long weekend of being in class with Amanda.

2008/07/30 – Wednesday – Deal Or No Deal

I got a call near the end of day at work asking if he was late getting to our house – No Chris you are on time….

Well, I still got out of work a little later (15 min)

I got on-line to check the address, but I could not find the correct locations for sure, but their map was the same location that the address was pointing to.

We (Chris, Amanda and I) finally left about 4:30 to our destination. I was using both phones to look at maps and tracking our progress on the other phone (Google maps on the blackberry can get you an approximant location)

The first attempt, we went past it without even noticing the little sign on the corner. We then did a loop around one of Sony’s buildings. Next we were about to make a loop around another big block, we found the sign with the address. Going down the block, we finally found people lined up for the show.

Chris was able to find a really close parking on the street. We did a few trips back to the car for a few things.

When we got into the lot, we were put into a soundstage with nothing in it – except for a few chairs, but not enough for the 360+ people that was going to watch the taping.

Once all the small to large logos were hidden or removed and they were ready, we headed on in to the Deal or No Deal stage.

The episode we were watching is #409 and it will show the day before 2008 election.

We sat near the entrance where the contestant comes out – about half way up on the right.

The ladies were of course beautiful waiting by the cases.

They did give out some candy and a few t-shirts. Chris did catch one of the t-shirts and he was very nice and gave it to Amanda. Thanks Chris!

It was interesting when they had to re-shut for the additional commercial brakes necessary for the 90 minute show.

We finally got released a little past 10:00. We had to walk out a different gate so now the car was not close – o well. On the way out we passed a sign with J. May at a parking spot so does that means I could park there?

We stopped on the way for some dinner to bring home – we got home about 11:30.

------------------------------------

O you thought I would give out the results – guess what – Nope – you’ll have to wait and see.

2008/07/29 – Tuesday – Shake Rattle and Roll

Quick update sense I last write. Sunday we attended the caller. At noon I went over to the other hall and attended the Program Committee Meeting for 2009 NSDC. The meeting was over by 4:00. So I went back over to support Amanda in the caller class.

Now today:

I was in a video meeting on the third floor at work and wow what a felling. The building slowly bumping along, then a big bump happen, then back to slowly bumping along.

Finally I got a hold of the kids and I found out that Amanda was woken up by the quake. O about an hour later finally Cheryl was able to get a hold of me (cell to cell) to check on things and give status.

Here at home we had no damage at all. At my work, we only a few things that fell or got moved (on the third floor.)

----------------------------------------

I have made a decision to change my daily blogging to a more relevant blogging, so if all we did was stuff around the house then I will most likely not blog, but if we go someplace other then the store, then I will most likely post a note. So this blog will not necessarily be a daily blog, but most likely a weekend blog. If I do get comments that still would like daily happenings, then I might keep it up.

2008/07/26 – Saturday – Week Recap and Calling

During the week, Cheryl did get her arm looked at and now she is out of her splint.

Eric had an orthodontist appointment.

Friday night Amanda attended her first session of the current Caller Class that she is doing. I am her partner for the class.

Cheryl and Eric went and helped the Orange Coast Lariats with the Orange County Fair Square Dance demonstration.

Today Amanda and I were in the class all day, so we are both tried.

Cheryl did a little bit of shopping for the bike, but she did not like anything, so I guess we will be doing our shopping on the internet.

2008/07/20 – Sunday – Dance and Baseball

Our first stop for the day was at Ralph’s to pickup the cake for our friend Birthday.

Next stop was at the Croakers monthly dance. We of course did our dancing and we presented the cake to Chris. We also did a game that we will do for the national square dance convention in 2009.

Our last stop for the day was at the Lake Elsinore Storm field. We had a good time. CJ even got teased by the mascot – Thunder. The Storms did not win this time…

We dropped CJ back to his car before returning home.

2008/07/19 – Saturday – Relax / Cleaned

We relaxed for most of the day. I am still trying to get through my major backlog of blogs to read.

L.S. did come over to relax with us. Eric and her did play one of the game system for awhile.

I started to get pissy and finally got the kids to work on the RV to get it cleaned out from vacation.

Once that was done, we relaxed some more.

Friday, July 18, 2008

2008/07/18 – Friday

Cheryl went to work again and did ok. She still gets a little dizzy when she gets up to quickly.

We did some relaxing.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

2008/07/17 – Thursday

Cheryl took Amanda to her dentist appointment. She then went into work for awhile.

She was board on Wednesday and was glad to do something.

I left work early to be able to take Eric to his dentist appointment.

2008/07/16 – Wednesday – Theatre Night

Once I got home, we needed to leave and head for Glendale Centre Theatre. We had plenty of time, so we stopped at JIB in Glendale before heading for the theatre.

The show tonight was Brigadoon.

Tonight we also got two different phone calls to checkup on Cheryl’s condition. She is doing well; in fact she is going into work tomorrow and seeing how long she can last…

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

2008/07/15 – Tuesday – More Fixing

We had notified both of our bosses that we where not coming in to work last night.

I did not sleep very well; I kept making sure Cheryl was ok. She of course did not sleep to good.

I did get Mom M to the train station on time and she is on her way home.

When I got home, we got a call from the hospital and they wanted us to return to take more x-rays.

Before stopped at the hospital, we stopped at USPS to pick up a package.

When Cheryl was getting two additional x-rays taken, she almost passed out from the pain moving her arm.

Yep, her arm is broken. The new x-rays show that her smaller arm bone at the head in the elbow was broken. She now has to be in a splint for a couple of weeks.

After the hospital we took the results (x-rays on the cd) to Y.D. so she could review the results and have her doctors to look at it also.

We also stopped at Cheryl normal doctor to get that paperwork started to get her approval to have a specialist review the healing process.

Next stop was at the insurance agent to get insurance for the bike, but we would not have any property claim from her accident.

By the time we got home, we were both worn out.

Mom D, came over after work to check on what was going on, she also tried the bike out and she is not sure if she wants to upgrade to that size yet.

Cheryl did go to Crazy Chicken to get dinner.

I will go back to work and the kids will help her out. She will stay home one more day before returning back to work.

2008/07/14 – Monday – New But Hurt

Warning – All is ok! – Long Post!!!

We returned to work like normal.

Cheryl made an appointment so she left work early, I left a little early to join her to get a new motorbike – 260cc motor scooter.

Cheryl did go to the DMV and passed the test to get the motorcycle license endorsement.

Cheryl, Mom M, and I made it to the Motorcycle dealer in plenty of time. After completed all the paper work, we tried to start the bike. I had to go get 3 galloons of gas and that still not work, the owner of the business finally got a can of starter fluid and sprayed that into the carburetor to finally start the bike.

After about 15 minutes of idling the motor, it got really hot, so I ran the bike up and down the street to cool it back down.

Finally it was time for Cheryl to ride the bike all the home on the city street because the restrictions on the bike endorsements.

In the mean time Mom D called and wanted to meet up with us on the way home.

Finally we meet Mom D at Rosemead/Lakewood Blvd and I5. We stopped and talked a little bit then we got moving again.

We almost made it home without any problems. - Cheryl is fine just a little bruised up and a broken arm.

Now the next section is my view of what I say of what happen.

I was following the whole time and she was doing well. Cheryl was turning right from Lakewood Blvd to Del Amo Blvd and crashed.

As she was turning right she was not leaning the bike correctly so she was fighting the turn. She drifted to the center divider, when the bike hit the divider, she was thrown into the left turning lane (the other side of the divider). Her helmet flew off of her head. She was laying on the ground face down with her top back of her head somewhat wedged under a stopped car tire (waiting for the light to change in the left turning lane). Her left arm was laying flat and her right arm was lying beside her body.

When I got the van stopped and checked on her she was not moving (which scarred the hell out of me, but I kept my composer). By this time, several people were telling her and anybody else not to move her and they had already called 911.

She finally responded to our talking to her (and what a relief she is alive! – now is her body ok?)
In the mean time I also got the bike back up and out of the center divider.

Cheryl then also insisted to move and get a little more comfortable. When she finally set up she got a little dizzy then she lay back down onto the road (wow she seems all ok!)

Finally the Police and Firemen came and took her to the local hospital. She was mostly complaining about her left arm being really sore. The crew working on Cheryl put the neck brace on and put her on a board before taking her away.

I finished talking to the person that Cheryl’s head hit and the police. (The bike never hit any car.)

I took the bike home and Mom M. followed.

Mom D detoured to the hospital, while I told the kids and took care of a few things. Lisa S. was over so she wanted to come also. On the way to the hospital, I had to return to the house to get the health card and ID.

Mom M, Lisa and I finally found a parking spot and went in to check on Cheryl.

Two X-Rays were taken of her left arm and a CTScan for her head.

We had 7 people in her room waiting.

Once the X-Rays where finally read, we got her road rash (forehead and left arm) cleaned up and we were finally released

We made it home some time after Midnight.

What a way for her and her new bike to end the day.

2008/07/13 – Sunday – Finally Home

We got up and went into the casino for breakfast. We finally left around 10:45 for home.

The traffic was not bad. On the grade before the Baker Grade, we went through a major ran storm.

We did stop at Flying J’s for gas and dump the tanks.

We then stop at Three Sisters to get the RV and Van washed – now they look pretty again.

We got home and got the vehicles all back in their normal places.

O – And Cheryl won at the video poker slots last night, so a nice way to pay for part of the vacation…

Saturday, July 12, 2008

2008/07/12 – Saturday – Drive

We left a little after 9:00. Our neighbors work me up around 6:30 and I then catnapped until a little after 8:00.

Our next stop was a Flying J’s

I had to stop at a rest area (after the I70 split) to we could have lunch and I could use the restroom.

Next stop was at the Flying J’s in St George.

Our final gas stop for the day was at (you guessed it) another Flying J’s in North Las Vegas.

We are now camped at Sam Town RV campground.

We went in and got dinner and a show – Hancock.

2008/07/11 – Friday – Golden Spike

When we left the campground, the first thing on the drive was up a very steep climb. I stopped at an overlook to cool down the transmission. While at the stop an Indian family was selling stuff and Cheryl and Amanda bought some stuff.

On our way to the Golden Spike, we had to take another detour – the route I had planned was closed because of construction.

We finally make it to the Golden Spike Park. The climb to get to the place is also very steep. We watched both trains move on the track (back and then forth (back into place)). After leaving the visitor center, we took both car tours. We can proclaim that we drove on the same ground as the trains that connected both coasts.

We also stopped on the way out at the place that make rockets – that was only a 10 minute stopped – I was the only one that got out and looked at some of the rockets.

We stopped for the needed gas at a Flying J’s.

Amanda and Mom M found a camping location; I think we got the very last spot that could fit us.

We got the van unloaded and headed on out to the Mayan restaurant we like in Sandy.

Back at the RV, we loaded the van back on, and now ready for the long drive tomorrow – we should be in Las Vegas tomorrow.

2008/07/10 – Thursday – Added Stop

Well the morning was not a good morning. We had drained the motor battery and using the crossover switch to connect the RV batteries did not work. Using the solar battery charger and the battery booster finally got the motor started.

We left the campground around 9:15, still not bad for having a bad start.

Just got on the road and I noticed that the trailer breaks was on when it should not be. I finally had to turn them off.

We stopped at Flying J’s and we got gas, as well as I fixed the trailer breaks by disconnecting the motor battery and the trailer to get the trailer break control to reset. Now the trailer breaks are working properly.

We stopped in the town where J.C. Penny started his business; we also had a late lunch in a little place that only served breakfast and lunch.

The next stop was an unplanned stop – Fossil Butte National Monument. Neat location out in the middle of now where…

We got gas and were looking for our next stop for the night.

We found the RV camp site and what an ordeal with the guy in the office. The guy was too new and not confident in running it.

Amanda really wanted to eat dinner out and since we are really close to Idaho, she wanted to eat in Idaho.

We unloaded the Van and took a drive. We finally stopped at a veerryy small place. We all had good food.

When we got back we loaded the van back on the trailer.

We watched anther movie tonight.

2008/07/09 – Wednesday – Another Detour ending in Prison.

I got up early this morning for a good breakfast that the KOA offered. We got on the road a little after 9:00.

We stop in Casper to get gas at a Flying J’s and a lunch stop at a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Following Street Atlas we started down the road, but the road was set at 40 mph, then the road had no center strip and getting rough. Finally the road turned into a dirt road and I stopped to check on the map. Come to find out that Street Atlas put us down a dirt road instead of a state route. After fixing the route, we got back on to track on a state route to Rawlins, WY.

When we got into Rawlins, our site to see was a old prison that is now a museum. Our tour guide was very nice. But the other lady that was behind the counter was a bitty. In fact we would have spent more money but she wanted nothing to do with it, but to make sure to state they were CLOSED. Sure not a good thing when dealing with customers.

We stopped at the KOA here in Rawlins for the night. Cheryl made dinner – mmm good.

I talked with a fellow CA and he is heading to the Black Hills, so I gave him the tourist map that we picked up when we where there to help him with his 4 days there.

2008/07/08 – Tuesday – Relaxing Day

We got up late. It was nice to sleep in a little. But the sleep was not all that pleasant – at 2:30 in the morning we had a lighting and thunder show with a few good down pours for about an hour.

Our first stop today was at the Mammoths Pit. They are estimating about 20 to 30 more years of digging. Yes we say a lot of bones.

We had a late lunch.

Our next stop was at the local Hot Spring Pool (it warm not hot). We enjoyed the pool for about 4 hours.

Next was dinner at the same place as lunch.

Back to the RV, we watch another movie.

Well, the rest of the trip will be one night stands – at any given RV park.

2008/07/07 – Monday – More Change of Plans

Based on the rain storm last night, I changed our route through the Bad Lands. I did not think it was wise to travel any of the dirt roads

We started on the North end of the Bad Lands. We stopped at almost every turn out. By the time we got close to the south end I missed the last three – I just wanted to get to the visitor center.

Amanda got the necessary paper work for the Junior Ranger Program and proceeded to work on it. We watched the 20 minute video about the place and walked the exhibits. Amanda finally finished and the ranger questioned her memory on a few things – so also had to state the oath.

The route I took was paved buy sure was not smooth.

We stopped for two nights near Hot Springs at a KOA.

Eric and Amanda cooked dinner. Mom M, Cheryl, and I did laundry.

We watched Wild Hogs tonight and had a few good laughs.

Trying to upload photos is slow on the Satellite, so I will try to work on the photo post tomorrow – but hay I am on vacation… Until tomorrow…

2008/07/06 – Sunday – Change of Plans

We left a little late, I had to get the van loaded so that adds time to getting ready to leave in the morning.

We headed back down the Enchanted Highway. This time the gift shop was open and we talked with the artist that is keeping the idea alive and well. Also found out that he does have power hook ups like a campground, but just no shower or restrooms.

We stopped at a petrified wood museum. After that we stopped on the side of the road for lunch.

The next road that street atlas guided us was a dirt road and I really didn’t want to travel that far on a dirt road, also a sign stated only local trucks. So the new path then lead us trough Sturgis and then back to Wall.

We are camped at one of the camp grounds in Wall. We walked over to the Wall Drug
Store/Mall. The place had a lot of small stores in the front and in the back some more stores. In the middle of the place it has more interactive things to do. Also a T-Rex head that growled at people every two minutes. Also took some pictures of the kids on/in some touristy stuff.

We then ate at a restaurant across the street – the food was so-so – we were not impressed.

By the time it was to go to sleep a big thunder stormed rolled in and I lost my internet connection – so that is why the post is a day latter (back dated).

2008/07/05 – Saturday – Enchanted Highway

We left a little after 9:00 – so not a bad start for the day.

We stopped at Flying J’s for our gas stop in Fargo.

We stopped for lunch around noon at one of the rest area along I94.

Next stop was gas in Bismarck.

We stopped at the “Big Cow” (I will post picture on the adventure page – but you can also look in Smugmug album). The dirt road going up to the parking was ok, but to turn around was another storey. I had to jackknife the RV and trailer so we finally get turned around.

Now we started to look for a campsite, but it is extremely hard to find them. We had to drive additional 10 miles to Dickinson to find one in the time period we wanted to drive.

I unloaded the van and we then drove the Enchanted Highway. We stopped at all the metal sculptures along the route. All of the stops can accommodate the RV, but I was not sure. Buy the time we reached the end of the route, the store was closed, so tomorrow we will stop and of course buy nick-knacks.

When we returned back to town, we stopped at Apple Bee for dinner.

We stopped by the movie theater and found out they are showing Wall-E at 9:30.

Cheryl wanted to buy something for Eric, so off we go to K-Mart and she found something.

Now back to the theater to watch Wall-E.

We got back to camp about 11:30. Walked the dogs and now its time to go to bed – Later.

2008/07/04 – Friday - Head Waters

We left camp a little after 9:00.

Before finding a beachfront we had to wait for a BIG boat to go by with the drawbridge up to let it pass by. We finally found a beachfront on Lake Superior and dipped our toes and hands in the BIG Lake.

A quick stop for gas and we where on way. We stopped in Cohasset for lunch.

We finally made it to the Mississippi River headwaters. We took the dogs for the walk also. Zircon did swim across the river and didn’t want to do that again.

We all played in the water for a while – even Turquoise enjoyed playing.

We tried to stay at a casino, but the RV Park was full, so we tried about three other places and all was full. We finally made a reservation at KOA near Fargo and all was well.

We finally pulled in about 6:00. Amanda and Cheryl cooked dinner.

2008/07/03 – Last of the Locks

We got moving right on time – 9:00. I did have to stop when I just pulled out of the parking lot to get the computer reset – so Cheryl went into the store to get some ice.

Dam and Lock #2 and #1 was found. But getting to #1 took an ordeal of navigation. We wondered through Minneapolis and finally found #1. I drove down to the bottom and found out I could not turn around, so I had to backup about a quarter of a mile.

Next we finally found lower and upper St Anthony Falls/Dam/Locks. I had to park in three locations and feed the three meters.

Amanda volunteered to call a campground that she found in the books.

I finally get see one of the Great Lakes – Superior

We went out for groceries and dinner. After dinner Cheryl really wanted Starbucks so we took about an 8-mile detour to find one.

Amanda worked on some schoolwork.

2008/07/02 – Wednesday – Dams and Locks

We left Elkader a little after 9:00. We stopped at several locks going up the Mississippi. Dams and Locks #9, #8, #7, #6, #5A, (missed number #5), #4, and #3.

At #9 and #5A we watched barges being worked in the lock.

Getting to dam #3 was a little nerve racking, because of all the signs stating restricted areas and all, but we finally found it and park in the visitor parking area and walked over the observation area without any problems.

We are camped at a casino RV Park – nice and cheep. We went into the casino for the buffet dinner.

We watch Nemo tonight.

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

2008/07/01 – Tuesday – Family and Water

We got up late to day. We finally got moving and headed on out for dinner at family.

We stayed for about two hours and had fun talking.

We made arrange for the supper – so now it was time to explore.

We stopped at Dam/Lock #10, but we could not get the close view because it was under some type of maintenance/construction.

Next stop was at Pikes Peak – a great view of the Mississippi River and the Wisconsin River.

We did a cave, but a twist to it was to ride a boat. It is called Spooks Cave. After the cave tour, we did take a few pictures of a waterfall coming out of the middle of the hill (another cave), on the same grounds.

We went driving around – we did go over a bridge to Wisconsin for some sight seeing.

We then headed for another family house for supper. We had a good time enjoying the food and company.

When we got back the dogs were really good – I am very happy with the dogs so far on this trip.

Amanda is currently frying bugs with our battery-operated fly swatter thingy.

2008/06/30 – Monday – Family

We left camp at 9:15. It took a little to get out of the campground (avoiding VERY LOW wires), but we were on our way.

We stopped for gas and lunch at a Flying J’s in Des Moines

Next stop was at a Flying J’s in Waterloo.

One the way towards Elkader we had to stop twice for road construction.

Well we are at Deer Park - This park was flooded, but now they are up and running.

We were invited to dinner at G&N. We had a good time visiting.

Back at the RV we watched Star Dust until after midnight – so I know we will sleep in a little tomorrow.

Sunday, June 29, 2008

2008/06/29 – Sunday – On the road again

We got a very late start today. I got up at 9:00 and started to get things ready. I had to get all the outside things put away and ready - Van, Flagpole, Satellite, and hookups. While I was doing that, the campground host came by and asked if I lost a windsock – Yes I did, sure enough, when I retrieved it, it was mine.

We finally was on the road at 11:00

The new tire sensor on the trailer tire is working well - hurray.

Our first stop was at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. We walked around the grounds and returned back to the RV to have a late Lunch at 2:00.

We got gas at Flying J’s at 2:40, then again at another Flying J’s in Kansas City.

We are now stopped just north of Kansas City.

Mom M did her laundry and ours.

Saturday, June 28, 2008

2008/06/28 – Saturday – Last Day of NSDC

I got up and took the tires off the trailer, in the rain. A tire shop put the new sensors on the tires, so hopefully all is ok. When I got back I went ahead and put the tires back onto the trailer.

We got to the dance after lunch and did some dancing.

For dinner we went to a Mexican food place. Mom M got sick on the way back to the RV.

We got all the necessary items and changed to the evening.

We did do some dancing in the live band hall (mainstream).

The after party in the Youth Hall was a blast. When it was time to leave, we could not find Cheryl’s phone. We must have looked for a good ½ hour.

We got back to the RV a little after 12:30 A.M. We received a phone call from Mom D at 1:30 A.M. about the possibilities on where Cheryl’s phone is located. So off I go to get it. YEP it was hers – cool. One of the kids picked it up in her stuff and the father called. So now it get to re-activate the phone in the morning.

I finally got to bed at 2:00 in the morning. So I know tomorrow I will be tired!

2008/06/27 – Friday – Dancing

Well at 2:30 in the morning a big thunderstorm woke us up with all of its wind, lighting, thunder, and rain. Then again another cell happen at 4:30 but this time the thunder was louder.

When it was time to leave for our meeting, we made the choice to sleep in. Also what helped in making the choice is Chris called told us the highway was crawling.

We made a few phone calls and a big group of us went for lunch.

We did go finally to the convention center. The kids did their dancing in the Youth Hall and we did some dancing in the Plus hall in the hotel.

We left for dinner and anther group went to Sonic.

I noticed that our square dance windsock is gone – so now I need to get a new one of those. Also the connector for the lights had burned up.

We returned to the RV and changed to our family outfits (sorry those pictures will no be posted until we return from the trip)

Once we got to the Convention Center, we got our pictures taken in our outfits. We also got a group shot of the Long Beach group

The kids did more dancing in the Youth Hall, while we mostly talked and relaxed.

When we returned, the flag pool had partially collapsed. So I re-extended the poll and worked on the lights. I did get the pool lights lit, but not the ground on yet.

Well its 1:00 again – time to go to bed – hopefully no thunderstorms tonight.

Thursday, June 26, 2008

2008/06/26 – Thursday – Salt and Dancing

A big group of us went and did the Salt mine tour. First we stopped at the tour got our tickets for 11:20 then we head back down the road to an Amish restaurant. Food was good and it was a really good price.

We make it back to the mine in time for our tour. We was down under the ground at about 650 feet below.

Back at camp I took about a 5 min nap.

I checked on how much to put new sensors on the trailer tires and one place said $26 per tire – too much!

We did go back to the convention center to do our shopping. We got new jewelry for the whole family plus both Moms

For dinner break we went to Denny’s. I checked on another location and they quoted $19.95 per tire – so I will have them do it.

We changed into our outfits for the evening and went back to dancing. I did get some dancing in with the kids in the after party.

Back to the RV a little after midnight – we need to be back at the convention center by 9:00 for a meeting and it is 1:00 now so good night….

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

2008/06/25 – Wednesday – Fixing and Dancing

Cheryl went and did laundry, while she was doing that, the kids went swimming.

Mom M and I went to Home Depot so I could fix the closet. We found the metal holders – it was shower curtains holders. After returning, I fixed the closet bar – now we can get to our clothes properly.

Cheryl finished the laundry and putting the clothes away, we headed on out for our next adventure.

We made some arrangement with Chris – so we met Chris and his mom and dad at the convention center. We got our packages (badges and programs)

Next stop on our running around was at Sheplers and yes we did buy some things. Now it was time for dinner. After doing some ring-around-the-rosy we finally found the place and had a good meal and some good conversations.

We got ready for the evening dancing.

We did our dancing and talking with lots of friends and was also invited to a evening gathering – so we enjoyed that.

We gained another kid for the night and our next adventure tomorrow – so until then type to you latter its 1:00 in the morning local time, I need to get my sleep.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

2008/06/24 – Tuesday – We are in Wichita

We left camp on time – 9:00 am. On the way out, we almost ran over a tortuous.

Our first stop was a gas and lunch in a little town called Minneola Kansas.

Next was at the ‘Big Well’ in Greensburg Kansas where a tornado (EF5) hit in May 2007. Wow the town is still building. The “Big Well” is still there, but the gift shop is a very small temporary building. They still do not do tours down into the well since the disaster.

We did get to see a crop fire.

I almost missed the turn off for the campground. We got checked ok and they are happy to receive a package I had to order to get the trailer tires sensor replacements delivered to us.

Amanda went with Chris and his Mom to a Barn Dance (Square Dance)

The rest of us went to Wally World for a few items.

When Chris returned Amanda, we chatted for little while.

Monday, June 23, 2008

2008/06/23 – Monday – Rain

Well, I got up late again; we did not leave until 9:45 again.

I did rain during the night, but it was fairly dry in the morning.

Once on the road, the tire we changed on the trailer responded. About ½ hour later the sensor only response once every ½ hour so I now get alarms stating that we have an error because the sensor is not responded correctly. So I will need to order two new sensors and get them delivered while we are at Wichita.

Lunch stop was at a Flying J’s

We turned off of I40 and headed northeast on 54.

We stopped in Texas at a place called Dalhart. Short after we set up camp a thunderstorm caught us with lots of lightening. On of the strikes was really close and LOUD.

Once the storm passed we did see a rainbow and we had a gorgeous sunset.

Sunday, June 22, 2008

2008/06/22 – Sunday – Arches

We left camp about 15 till 10 – so a little later then I would like but that’s ok.

Our next stop was at the Arch in the El Malpais National Monument. We including the dogs did the short hike to the base of the arch. Once we returned to the RV, we had lunch, may it be a little late.

We then stopped at Sandstone Bluff. The bluff reminded me of parts of Moab with the sandstone cliff. The road to and from was a dirt road with one or two sections that had some good washboards. The road reminded me of the Alaska roads that were under construction.

I decided to not do the pictographs on this trip.

We pushed on to Albuquerque and stopped at the KOA.

I changed the back driver trailer tire because it never registered the tire pressure correctly, it would tell me the temp, but not the pressure.

The kids and Mom M went to the pool – Mom just watched.

Amanda and Cheryl cooked dinner tonight. We then walked to the store to get dessert snacks.

I did go out this evening to double check all the trailer tires to make sure they are the same pressure.

Saturday, June 21, 2008

2008/06/21 – Saturday – Tires – Never Ending

We left at 8:30 from our so-called camp location – Trains and Highway noises kept interrupted our sleep.

Our first stop of the day was at Flying J’s in Kingman. This stop was quick.

Next stop was a Walnut Canyon National Monument. We got there a little after noon. We found out that the “Island Tour” has been canceled because of a rockslide in December of 2007. So we opted for the video (sales pitch to by the DVD). We also ate lunch before leaving.

I have been watching my tire monitor and noticed that one of the trailer tires is getting HOT. When I looked out the driver mirror, I noticed that puffs of smoke were coming off the back tire. So I found an exit and pulled off – there was a (really) deserted gas station. We used the nice level spot to change the tire. We had trouble getting the sensor to register.

Next stop was a Flying J’s in Winslow AZ. I double-checked the lug nuts and also noticed that the passenger side rear trailer tire was not looking good. I finally got the new tire to register on the tire monitoring system.

We stopped for the night at Holbrook at a KOA. But before setting up camp, we drove to a place where I can get new tires for the trailer. We replaced both of the bad tires for a tune of $240.

Back at the camp, we headed on over to the campground eatery to get dinner. Mom M and Eric walked over to BK to grab an early dessert.

Now that we finished dinner and relax; Cheryl, Mom M, Amanda, and I (Eric stayed back) to get some dessert (I know Mom M got tow tonight).

Friday, June 20, 2008

2008/06/20 – Friday – Prep and Go.

Mom M and I took Cheryl into work. I took today off as a vacation day.

We went to AAA to get the maps and books – that took about 1½ hour. Next was a stop at Office Max. Next was Camping World to get a few more books. Once home we got the kids and headed on over to the grocery store. The last stop was at Fresh and Easy to get meats.

We loaded up the RV and lock up the house – we did make sure we had both dogs, two cats (left Road Kill at home) and the two kids.

We left at 4:00 to go pickup Cheryl from work. We left there at 5:20 and now we are starting on Vacation!

The traffic was miserable and HOT! For a while I thought we might be having problems with the RV, in regards to the heat.

We finally got to Barstow Flying J’s at about 9:00.

We stopped at midnight in a ghost town like area – Yucca, AZ. We camped in an empty deserted desert lot next to the post office.

Thursday, June 19, 2008

2008/06/19 – Thursday – Getting Things Ready – More

I called the RV guy again and he was already on his way to come get the RV – hurray. Later I called Mom M to make sure the RV did get picked up.

I came home for lunch. I went ahead and had the kids turn on the AC to help keep the place cool.

When I pulled up, I noticed that the RV was not parked correctly in the drive. So I went ahead and moved it around and also connected the trailer back up to the RV.

We got most of the RV loaded. So tomorrow we will only need to load a few things.

Mom M and I went shopping for some items at Wall-Mart, but we still need to get a few more items from one of the office stores as well as the grocery store.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

2008/06/18 – Wednesday – Getting Things Ready

I made the phone call to the RV repair guy and he stated he will get the RV in about an hour.

When I got home I noticed that the RV was not moved so he forgot again. Now we only have one day to get the RV fixed, so now I will be calling him more often to make sure he is fixing the RV.

All the ladies in the house went shopping (Cheryl, Amanda, and Mom M) and spent more money that we don’t have.

I repaired the dinette seat back boards, got the air tanks into the box on the trailer.

Getting close to bedtime, Eric noticed the dogs were not in the back yard. Zircon was at the front door when I opened it, but Turquoise was nowhere to be found. Eric went riding around on his bike, Mom M went for a walk, and I went driving around. I finally found him one street over, next I had to find mom, then had to find Eric. At least all is well.

Worked on getting the route ready for printing for the kids to follow along on our trip.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

2008/06/17 – Tuesday – Picking Up

Well, RV still is not fixed. I tried to call in the morning but no answer…

We left at 8:00 to go pick up Mom M from the train station. The traffic was very light, so we got to the Union Station at 8:30. We started walking towards the tracks. We walked up one of the ramps and as we got onto the deck we watch a train pull in. I made a quick call and it was Mom M train 15 minutes early. So we headed on down the ramp and head on over to the other ramp. I finally found Mom M up on the deck, so took her HEAVY bag from her and we all got hugs.

On the way home we stopped at BK for some dinner for Mom M.

Monday, June 16, 2008

2008/06/16 – Monday – Shopping

Cheryl and I went to the local cycle shop to look at a few bikes, but they only had one 250. I want to look at more then just one. More shopping to come.

I put a few things away in the RV after Mom D brought more stuff over.

I took an unplanned nap.

The RV is still not done. So tomorrow I need to make a call and get on his case about getting the roof done.

I tried to check on Mom M but no answer at this late hour – so I will call in the morning to check on her.

Sunday, June 15, 2008

2008/06/15 – Sunday - Work

The phone waked me up. So, I guess no sleeping in for me.

Cheryl and the kids went to the Croakers monthly dance.

I went into work at 3:00, but they were not ready. Finally got home at 8:30.

I did get to see the last few minutes of the Lakers game and them winning.

I am now up to date on posting the photo-a-day.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

2008/06/14 – Saturday – Stuff

I got woke up by work – so off I went in.

Cheryl went got her nails done.

I took Zircon to the groomers, on the way back I got my hair cut also.

I was waiting for Cheryl to return, I took a nap.

I painted the driver side of the trailer.

It was now time to pick up Zircon.

I went running around. I finally found the Navy Blue for the trailer. I then headed over to the pet store to get some Frontline for the pets. I did stop at AAA but they were closed. I will need to go over sometime during the week before we leave.

I painted the rest of the trailer.

We got ready for the party and headed on down. We tried to find parking, but it was not easy, so we decided to valet parking instead.

The party was fun. Eric and I played two sets of shuffleboard (table version). Eric also played a few rounds of pool with the grad girl. Later during the party, Amanda and I did one round. She was ahead by 6 points, but by the end I won and of course she was not as happy when she was winning. She did claim latter that her wrist was starting to bug her. Eric did have a chance to go play the video games.

We were on of the last groups to leave the party.

Now back home, I put some of the Frontline on all the pets – so that way, they are ready to defend all the fleas and ticks while on vacation.

2008/06/13 – Friday - 1 Years of Postings – Over 1½ Years

I was gong to reflect at one year but I decided to wait after I did one year worth of entries instead.

I am very glad that I have done this and will continue to do so. It sometimes was a great way to vent out some frustration. I like the thought about the ability to review what has happen. I have already reread some of the entries and I usually find something wrong in the entry. Hopefully in the next year, my writing would get better because of this blog.

I don’t put every little detail into this blog, but I put in the general feelings and doings. I am not sure if Cheryl will ever put an entry into this, but I think it is a great way to document the family and my doings.

Using the family adventure blog for the pictures and this blog you can get a good glimpse of what we do and like.

I know that a few family members (Mom M) and a few friends (2 off road friends and 2 square dance friends) read this blog. I really do appreciate any comments that a few of you have posted in the past.

Cheryl thinks that my computer stuff is taking too much of my time. I think she would rather have me do only what she wants and nothing that I want.

Again, I am glad that I have done this blog.

Now on to our normal things for the day….

Still the RV has not been fixed, so now I need to wait until Monday before anything can be done.

Cheryl took the kids and did some shopping and also got dinner.

Hopefully I will get some items on the check off list checked off on what needs to be done.

2008/06/12 – Thursday – Thinking of Family

We got an e-mail from the family back from Elkader Iowa about how it is/has been flooding this past week. I made a call to a member and gave her our itinerary of when we will be there so she can tell the rest of the family there.

Think of all the people that got displaced back in Iowa – Thanks.

2008/06/11 – Wednesday – Planning

When I got home, the RV had not been fixed as I was hopping. I will have to make a call tomorrow to see what need to happen.

I worked on the RV some today. I fixed the 12v connection on my side in the front.

Cheryl, Amanda, and I worked on some stuff for the 2009 convention.

I worked on our route for vacation. Our first night stop will not happen, so I had to delete that stop point. I then put a more definitive location for our family stop after the Square Dancing. I also put the first 9 dams on the Mississippi river. I am not sure if we will stop at all of them, but I have them marked.

2008/06/10 – Tuesday – Laundry

I called about the RV and he will do the sealing sometime today or tomorrow.

Well, I guess he will do it tomorrow, because it was still in the driveway and nothing changed in regards to the sealing that needs to be done.

I put all of the RV laundry away – made beds, put the seating covers on, and put towels away. So now the RV look ready for the next trip.

Cheryl and Amanda worked on schoolwork

I did more research and I can find where the video and fan is for sale, but all the web sites states they are out of stock.

I am still trying to find a video card, but it not easy…

O I am doing the laundry again.

2008/06/09 – Monday – Frustration

Well, we got the RV back during the day – yep a little over $3,200.00 for everything done.

Cheryl did her breathing test – it seemed fine, but it was not the test that she thought she was going to do, so that means another appointment will need to be done.

I check the RV and one major thing was not done. My roof still would leak, because they did not do what I requested to reseal part of the roof – so no I am frustrated and have to do what I requested.

Cheryl started dinner

Cheryl and I (with the dog) did our walk. So we got our two miles in today.

Once we got back, we ate dinner.

Cheryl and I worked on Cheryl’s laptop. We put her video card into my laptop, and sure enough it crashed. So her fan is dead and the video card! I called Alienware and to be short they could not help. Alienware did give us some places and model number for the parts we need, but still we have to do all the research and get the parts – so very frustrated over this. If I had bought the LONGER warranty, then I would have been able to get the parts, but they could not sell it to me – so that make no sense and makes me very frustrated! Cheryl did send out an email to AMD to see if they can help (but I will not hold my breath!)

2008/06/08 – Sunday – Relaxing

Cheryl finally came home from work about 6:30 and went to bed.

I slept it until I got a phone call around 11:00.

D&M D came over and they picked up some stuff from the club. We also talked about other items. I then talked with one of our neighbors or a little while.

CJ came over to visit.

A and S D came over and we talked a little bit before heading home.

Cheryl worked on her laptop some more. It looks like the fan will cost a little over 100.00 but it is out of stock currently.

2008/06/07 – Saturday – Relaxing

I called about getting Zircon groomed, but they were al full.

Once Cheryl was up, we headed on out to get a few pet things and quick stop at Starbucks.

Cheryl went go out and did a quick shopping.

A family came buy to we enjoyed the friendship. We went out for a late lunch / early dinner and a great time.

Once the friends left, Eric and I played on the PS3 for a few hours.

Cheryl and I with the dogs walked. Turquoise did a lot better tonight with the new pinch coaler on. I did not have to do a lot of corrections. Only one time when another couple was walking by with their dog did I have to really pull up on the coaler.

Cheryl went into work tonight and will be back sometime in the morning – some type of test that her work is doing…

2008/06/06 – Friday – Money going out the door

As I was leaving for work, I got a call from the RV mechanic that the RV will be serviced by.

Then I got a call asking were the key was located, so I had to remind him that he has them, so his workers had to go back to the shop to get the keys.

I finally got a call and was quoted $3000.00 for what needs to be fixed. He wanted me to buy all new tires – I said no, the new amount is $2000.00.

I got another call and the price went up to $3000.00 again.

I left work at lunch to go check things out. Well here is the list that will coast me some where around $3500.00

  • New Front Breaks (which also includes repacking of the front bearings)
  • New Rear Breaks (which also includes repacking of the rear bearings)
  • New Front Shocks
  • New gas lines (the old ones had cracks in them)
  • New serpentine belt
  • Oil Change
  • Transmission Oil Change
  • Generator Service
  • Both slide out adjustments
  • Resealing the Roof

I will know more on Monday when he should be finished with all the items.

Cheryl and I worked on the laptops to fix a few things. Cheryl’s machine needs a new fan, but she is still trying to get Alienware to send out the price for a new fan. And she is still having video problems.

2008/06/05 – Thursday - Walk and Frustration

I took two air tanks (Nitrogen and a CO2 tank) to a neighbor for him to replace (he works for supply company).

Cheryl and I walked tonight. Now my left arm is sore, because Turquoise had to be reminded SEVERAL times to heal!

For some reason tonight, both laptops are having connection issues with the wireless connection and it is really frustrating me!

Cheryl also worked on the ExpressCard some more, she has even made a phone call to the vendor to see if they can resolve the issue.

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

2008/06/04 – Wednesday – Walk and Software

Cheryl made a good dinner tonight. Once that was over, Cheryl and I went for a two-mile walk.

I worked on the new device that would connect a PCMICIA card into the laptops ExpressCard slot. I tried several different things, but still it did not work. Now it is Cheryl’s turn to try to get it to work but currently I do not have hope.

2008/06/03 – Tuesday – In Trouble?

Once Cheryl got home, Amanda and I went to the Dirt Devils Meeting.

The meeting was as normal – for some reason I did talk more tonight about some items.

On the way home, I did talk to Mom M.

Almost home, I say a lot of flashing lights and a weird vehicle. This “truck” was huge. It had three deferent semi all tied together. The thing was HUGE! (Go see Picture a Day site). There were at least 4 different CHP commercial trucks and two other CHP vehicles. Also there were at least 5 different support trucks (with boom buckets) to help in the movement of this monster. There was a group of guys all together looking at papers (I guess maps and documents). I think something went wrong, or somebody took the wrong turn – ops I think somebody is/did get in trouble!

2008/06/02 – Monday – Drivers

Once Cheryl got home, we went to the grocery store for some good stuff.

Cheryl and I installed new video drivers for our laptops; it seems to have fixed the 3d driver. Street Atlas 3D seems to work now with the new driver.

I need to get a few things done before vacation on the RV and trailer.
  1. RV Oil Change
  2. Transmission Oil Change
  3. Change Diff Fluids
  4. Generator Service
  5. Reseal the RV roof
  6. See how much to fix the driver side jack
  7. Fix junk drawer
  8. Check on new batteries
  9. Put all the laundry stuff back into the RV
  10. Wash the RV
  11. Re-Check the break lights (Secondary set)
  12. Fix Flag Poll Light Connection
  13. Mark the Internet Cables (outside (Blue/Red))
  14. Fix Dinette seat tops
  15. New External TV Speakers
  16. New Paper Towel Dispenser
  17. Get a new set of spear Cup Holders
  18. Install Network Connection from Cupboard to Desk
  19. Fix back window blind
  20. Install Cell phone antenna
  21. Paint Trailer
  22. Fender on Trailer
  23. Stop the weight distribution thingy from unwinding

I am not sure if all of the above will get done, but I need to get the main things out of the way.

2008/06/01 – Sunday – Relaxing / Playing Games

We did not do much.

CJ did come over for the day.

I did about two hours of playing on the new system.

Cheryl ordered dinner and had that delivered. Cheryl also had to about three different files

Saturday, May 31, 2008

2008/05/31 – Saturday – Fun?

Cheryl and Eric went out shopping for Eric new Toy – a PS3. Eric had most of the money saved up for the thing, but we paid the remaining.

I had to do some wiring things up to get the new game system into our mess of wire.

Eric played with it until it was time to go to dinner.

Mom D came over and we went to Friday’s for Dinner.

We cam back and played some more on the system.

2008/05/30 – Friday – Show Time

Cheryl asked about going to a movie so I said why not.

Amanda went with Chris to a square dance near San Diego and was back late tonight.

We went and watched the Indiana Jones movie. I had about three different locations that did not work correctly. Area 51 entry, Refrigerator Ride (still cool), and the Motorcycle Slide, all the other stuff was the normal Indiana Jones you normally would expect.

2008/05/29 – Thursday – Catching Up

Well, thank goodness that the dentist office didn’t charge us the $100 for the canceled appointment. Amanda still was not feeling good because of her cold.

Still doing laundry from the RV – should be finished by tomorrow.

We watched Lost tonight trying to understand what its all about but still mysteries.

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

2008/05/28 – Wednesday – Getting There

Cheryl stayed home because she was not feeling good. The cold that I got, well three of us have it now.

I took Eric to the dentist. He was inquisitive about the numb feeling.

Cheryl and I worked on the laundry; we still have a lot to do…

I finally got caught up on the photo a day entries.

Cheryl has been trying to deal with problems with her laptop, after doing some diagnostics, what to seem to resolve the issue was doing a check disk on the harddrive.

2008/05/27 – Tuesday – Cleaning – Hurry

We got the RV cleaned. The kids did good even though Amanda is not feeling to good – She got the cold that I have. We did take everything out and now we are starting to wash everything. I even got a few things cleaned better then in the past.

Now we just have to deal with a BIG pile of stuff waiting for the laundry.

2008/05/26 – Monday – Day 4 – HDR – Going home

Slept in a little today. Once I got the dogs out and taking care of business, it was time to start putting things away.

We stopped by main camp to say out goodbyes. We were given a box of avocados. We were also told it was raining at the pass.

Once we are on our way, the going was good. We stopped at Flying J’s to get propane, dump the tanks, and get gas. Cheryl and Amanda went over to In-&-Out to getting lunch.

Of course the usual slowdown on the 15 through Victorville, and we did not stop at the truck wash, but we made it home in no time. O and we did not encounter any rain – So dam I have to wash the RV now.

We unloaded the needed stuff and I was told that the kids will do the unloading tomorrow – I sure hope so…..

2008/05/25 – Sunday – Day 3 – HDR

It was game day at HDR. I decided not to participate in the games. Before we knew it, it was time to start setting up for the kids’ games. Every thing was setup in time.

I was asked to help a run to be a tail gunner for it – so of course I did.

The trail that he led was the same as the Blue Moon run, but he explained a lot more things to the new people. When he approached the big hill climb, he decided that he did not want to take his pickup truck up it, so I offered to go to the top and guided them all up. They all did fine. Once on top, it was time to head back to camp.

Back at camp, it was dinnertime.

After finishing dinner, I got two bottles of wine, and chair and headed over to where the raffle will be held.

I went and got tickets, sat down and got ready for the evening.

Eric got Third place in Can and Stick, Amanda got Third place in the Egg Carry.

Well, I got second place in the Nail Pounding – hurry, I never thought I could pound nails that good.

For the raffle, Amanda won a remote controlled Humvee in the kids’ raffle and she also won stuff in the adults raffle, I won nothing…

2008/05/24 – Saturday – Day 2 – HDR

Got up and made sure the Jeep was at the starting location before 8:00 so people would know which way to be heading for the Blue Moon run.

I went back to the RV to get lunch items that Cheryl made for Amanda and I.

We did our normal drivers meeting at about 15 till. I had about 3 people that had done this trail before and about ¾ of the group had not been at HDR before.

We left about 5 minutes after 9:00.

When we got to the first major hill, I let Amanda drive the Jeep to the other end of the plateau, while I walk down to the point where I spot people though the tough spot. I only had one person that was very nervous when he could not first make the obstacle.

I had Amanda drive the Jeep again on another plateau area while I made sure everybody was ok coming up the hill.

I was able to follow the GPS on the new section that I found on Friday. We had lunch at 11:30

Everybody was doing so good on the next set of hill climbs, I added another section that I tried last year and everybody did good.

We finished the run at 1:00 and I said my usual good byes to everybody.

Once everybody had left, I went exploring and found another trail across the road of the main road. Come to find out I think the road is more a quad trail, I did hit one rock good, and Amanda did let out a little noise when I hit it and stopped.

We got back to camp about 2:00. I stayed around the main camp for a little while. Once I made it back to the RV, I went ahead and took a nap.

Knock on the door woke me up and it was good friend. So we talked for a while.

Getting the dinner tickets from the registration package, I headed on over to main camp to got dinner – also drove the Jeep over to get it ready for the night run.

I did try the Nail Pounding game. I was in first place with 13 nails in the board in 30 seconds. But about 30 minutes, a buddy of mine got 14 in, then another friend tied with me later.

The Best Equip game was fun to watch. It had ended about 10:00

About 15 minutes after the game was done it was time to head on out for the “Jesse Southern Lights” run.

I had about 20 vehicles. I was able to find the start of the trail easily with the GPS help. We had very minor slow downs and all was at the top by 11:00. I pointed out several areas to several different groups.

The down hill section was a little slow going, but everybody did fine.

Once to the main road, I let everybody go on by, so I know that everybody got off the trail. I got back to the RV by 10 minutes after midnight.

Another fun day at HDR.

2008/05/23 – Friday – Day 1 – HDR

Once I got up and ready, Dan, Jeff and I went for a pre-run of part of the Devil’s Loop and then scouted out a section for the Blue Moon run.

After a few wrong turns and loops, I got a good new section for the Blue Moon run.

Back at camp by noon, we had lunch.

I got the Jeep safety and then head on over to registration to get the registration package and t-shirts.

Around 8 I got in line and headed on out on the night run. The run did parts of the Devil’s loop backwards and it was a little difficult for the more stock guys. But everybody did have fun every with a few wrong turns.

Cheryl and Eric got into camp about 8:30.

Buy the time I got back, Cheryl had headed for bed early.

Amanda wanted to talk to somebody back at main camp, so I also went. I started to talk and finally found Amanda again; we finally got back to the RV around 1 in the morning.

Thursday, May 22, 2008

2008/05/22 – Thursday – To HDR

I did go into work for half the day.

Once home, I worked on getting ready to head out to High Dessert Roundup (HDR). It took me a little longer then expected, but Amanda and I finally left some time about 1:30.

The traffic was bad. Anywhere there was rain, we were going very slowly.

Finally we made it into camp about 6:30.

I did set up the wind generator, the satellite, and of course the flag.

My phone does not get good reception here so I guess I will not talk to much on it this weekend.

I did set out around the fire until we ran out of wood and with the cold wind blowing non of us (D.D & J.J) wanted to stay out long.

Now I am tying to get the RV warm and catch up on some of the posts.

2008/05/21 – Wednesday – The Play Tonight

We got to the play a little late tonight. Uncle Marshall save some seats for us. The play tonight is called Singing In The Rain. They even did the scene with water coming down so he was actually singing in the rain; it was neat to see that. We all had a good time,

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

2008/05/20 – Tuesday – Problems

Cheryl and Eric worked on the garden. Cheryl bought stuff, so they planted several things – Corn, Strawberries, Watermelon, Squash, Cucumber, Rhubarb, Eggplant, Tomatoes, and Jalapeños.

I started to work on backing up more photos. I got another DVD copied. The second one was taking way to much time. I had discovered the computer had froze, so I had to reset it. I did the air-in-the-can thing so that would help in cooling the computer down. But when the computer came back up, I did not of a network connection and the DVD burner would not read anything.

Tomorrow I am going to try to fix it…

Monday, May 19, 2008

2008/05/19 – Monday – Late

I got home really late from work.

I made a phone call to a close friend that lost his job. He sound good and not terribly depressed.

I worked on backing up more of the photos.

Sunday, May 18, 2008

2008/05/18 – Sunday – Work

I went to work – I had to go to the NPF conference. I did learn a few things

Cheryl and the kids went to the croakers dance. I met them at Hofs Hut for dinner. I also was able to meet some good friends

I did start work on backing up all of our photos.

Saturday, May 17, 2008

2008/05/17 – Saturday – Friends – Water

We left early. We stopped a few places to get things.

We arrived at our friends place about two hours late. On the way in on the dirt road, we came around the corner what surprised us was three black mustangs.

Turquoise went swimming in the pond but we had to coach him to go get a ball. Finally he got tired and would not go chase anything.

I worked on her internet connection – I really did not find anything wrong.

I did take a trip on the quad and took some pictures. One of the neighbors did check on me to make sure I was not a hooligan.

Eric, Amanda, and the dogs all went swimming in the pond. Amanda never did go all the way under the water.

We finally left about 10:30. We finally got home sometime after midnight.

A long day, but we had fun.

Through out the day we ran Rosie about three times to give a good example on how good it does. We will see if they get one.

Friday, May 16, 2008

2008/05/16 – Friday – Visitation

I finally left work about 6:30 and then quickly ate dinner and headed out.

We went to a Square Dance visitation to Icabob Square Dance Club. We did get a banner for the few people that we had sign in as Croakers. We did leave after the break and went for some ice cream.

Mom D and Mom M both said Happy Birthday to me.

Thursday, May 15, 2008

2008/05/15 – Thursday – No GUI

I worked on the version of Fedora, but during the install it stated the computer did not have enough memory, so it was going to be in text mode. Well, text mode is not what I wanted, I want the GUI interface. I know – I know a true Linux guy would love to code in text versions, but I want to be lazy and really would like to have a GUI interface.

It now 11:28 and the house is still hot at 87.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

2008/05/14 – Wednesday – Linux

We did an unsatisfactory report from Eric’s school about one of his classes – currently he has a D and a note stating missing or incomplete work. So we need to creak down on him some more.

I am trying another Linux system, but it took all night to download the 3 gigs iso file. I currently am trying to burn the iso to DVD.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

2008/05/13 – Tuesday – Found Coupon

I worked on the pile of bills and junk mail that has been on my desk for a little while. Well I finally found the TV Converter Box Coupon Program – So now I need to go shopping for the other two boxes I need.

O did do two loads of laundry – but still need to finish the third load tomorrow.

Monday, May 12, 2008

2008/05/12 – Monday – SCAD Meeting

I did check to see if the rotor tiller is broken – yep, it would not rotate the blades. I need to take it apart to see if I can fix it.

Once Cheryl got home, and Mom D stop by, we headed off for the SCAD meeting. But the first stop was a BK for dinner.

At the meeting we did our normal things. At our next meeting I will be President because the current President has to resign so that they can be the President of the California State Association.

Sunday, May 11, 2008

2008/05/11 – Sunday – Mothers Day

We got up late and finally got ready and we headed on over to a Birthday/Mothers day Brunch.

Once home, I went ahead and worked on Cheryl’s garden – the rotor tiller started. I completed the back section. I started to work on the section along the garage and the rotor blades stopped rotating – so I was finished. I will see if it was just to hot and will try again tomorrow to finish that section.

I did call Mom M for Mothers day…

I worked on laundry all night – still have about 3 more loads and that will not get touched until Tuesday.

I finally finished reading all my blogs that I read – so I am all caught up from last week reading.

Saturday, May 10, 2008

2008/05/10 – Saturday – Quarterly Square Dance Meeting

Before heading for the California State Square Dance Meeting, we stopped by Starbucks to get some drinks, and then dropped Eric off with Mom D.

We made it to the meeting location with an empty tank (Cheryl was correct – we made it without any problems)

Lunch we at a group meeting – Youth Meeting to talk about things coming up over the next couple of years.

After the meeting, I stopped and got gas – 18.109 gallons at 3.899

Once home we relaxed and Cheryl relaxed and tried to recover from her breathing – Meds are doing some help but it’s a slow process.

I went a finally got a box – the box – the digital converter box – so now the TV is just a monitor, no longer a tuner. WOW – we see TV without all the snow that we have been us to for a very long time.

O – yesterday I got crewed out from my grandpa about not calling more often, so I need to put it into my calendar to reminded me to call him at least once a month…

I had to call our friend to get our pipes cleaned out tonight, at least it doesn’t cost me an arm and leg, it usually coast me all the cash that I have on hand so tonight it cost me $61. He pulled out a good clump of roots – so I should be good for another 6 months (maybe).

Friday, May 09, 2008

2008/05/09 – Friday – New Stuff

When I got home, I noticed that I had a package from Delorme.

I opened the package and my new software – Street Atlas USA 2009 and a new GPS – Earthmate GPS LT-40

Well, of course I installed the software and attached the GPS, but I have additional software called GpsGate that will allow the GPS be shared with multiple software and it would not recognize the GPS. I had to do some research and found out I could download a piece of software from Delorme and finally that allowed the GPS to be shared via the GpsGate software.

While I was doing the above research I went and got the van from the dealer. The van got it necessary service done. But I wanted the alarm to honk the horn like it us to when you armed the system, but that didn’t get fixed (even though it was stated it was fixed).

Cheryl and Amanda went shopping after she got home.

Thursday, May 08, 2008

2008/05/08 – Thursday – Not a Normal Work Day

Today was AARP Day of Service. Wow we all worked hard. The group that I was in was at the Orange County Food Bank.

By the time we got back to the office we were all tired, so almost everybody just headed for their cars and head on home.

Cheryl did go to the doctor today to get checked out about her breathing. She is not taking some meds…

I took the van for the necessary maintenance, but it took almost an hour (4 minutes shy) before I got a ride form the curtsy van to take me home.

I did take a nap and did some more reading…

Wednesday, May 07, 2008

2008/05/07 – Wednesday – Dawgs Meeting Night

Once Cheryl got home, Amanda and I took the van and headed to the Dawgs Meeting.

Once at home, I did get all of the weekend blogs posted.

Now I will see how much I get to read my reader backlog…

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

2008/05/06 – Tuesday – DD Meeting Night

Today at work I had a class – Work Life Balance – I am taking away with that a good set of things to do for work and non-work.

Rosie worked fin as far as I can, I cleaned it and put it down to clean some more – I will be doing that for the next couple of weeks – so that means two cleanings a day.

Amanda and I went to the Dirt Devils monthly meeting. Amanda did win a raffle prize – Jeep Clock.

On the way home, my boss wanted to talk, so I told him to call and we talked about things.

I am working on trying to post to the family blog, but I am having problems trying to upload the pictures.

Monday, May 05, 2008

2008/05/05 – Monday – Rosie III

We got Rosie on Friday, but we had not time to work on it, so I opened it up today. Wow what a difference from the old Rosie – We got the Roomba 580

I got a phone call and a comment on my previous post from SVradioguy about not getting him into Stagecoach – we will invite him next time to be part of the group that dances.

I only had to get on the kids about getting the RV cleaned. They did start on the RV before I got home – so hurray, the promos did work. THE RV HAS BEEN CLEANED OUT – HURRAY!

Tonight I also worked on getting photos uploaded into Smugmug. Thursday I will work on posting for the family adventure and putting photos onto that.

Sunday, May 04, 2008

2008/05/04 – Sunday – Better / Drive Home

Well the dog woke me up this morning wanting out. So take the dogs out and when I got back in I took a shower.

People started showing up at the RV about 9:00.

Amanda really wants us to stay until after 5:00 so she can watch Trace Adkins at 4:15. So after some negotiations and promises, I agreed.

Getting closer to our time to go on and perform, we were asked to meet behind the stage, so we all gathered and waited for our time.

We danced one tip and then dragged people from the audience to dance. It seemed everybody had fun.

After wards, I worked on get the RV ready. I was asked by several people that were passing by about the wind generator. I finally got the van loaded. Cheryl wants to get something to eat and meet some friends.

We ate and did some walking around but my feet were getting really tired. So back to the RV to get ready to leave, I got the satellite put away, and everything else outside put away. By the time I was about to get the RV turned around Amanda was back at the RV – happy to hear Trace Adkins!

We did stop at Flying J’s to dump and get fuel. We used a lot of gas running the generator this weekend. It caused my gas mileage to be 4.81 for that tank.

On the drive home we had lots of wind on our way out of the Palm Springs area. I did have to make s slight detour to meet a friend, but that was minor – the route was on a plausible route that I have taken before for getting home.

At home I fueled up and got 6.23 mpg, so that was not bad.

Now I just hope the promise that was made will be honored on Monday.

Saturday, May 03, 2008

2008/05/03 – Saturday – Hot – Fun – Stagecoach

When I got up, of course I have to take the dogs out for the morning duties.

I walked all the way across the compound and back before I finally found where I was to pick up the package for our group.

After several phone calls to different group members, we made agreed upon time a place to handout all the stuff.

Off we go to the agreed upon place – Starbucks. Once we arrived I found out that I had retrieved the wrong package from the RV, so I returned back to the RV. Now that I have the correct package, I gave the caller his stuff so he could get in and look things over. I returned to Starbucks to hand out all the wristbands and parking stuff.

We had some time to kill, so walked the ground and relaxed. Found were D&M D was located and chatted with them for little while.

About 1½ hour before start time for the Croakers demonstration we all gathered at the RV to change clothes.

We got to the stage about 45 minutes before our time. We did get a group shot.

It was hot and tiring, but we made through it. We had two squares at the start and we did only one square for the remainder.

After our dancing, we found out we should have done a teach for half of the time – so I guess we will do that on Sunday

We changed back at the RV and slow started to get dinner ready – Taco Bar Style.

The group split up on smaller groups. I went and found D&M D and sat with them when the Judds was on stage.

I returned to the RV, then I found another one of our group and she guided me to were our chairs was and I enjoyed the next two artiest.

I got back to the RV near midnight and headed the kids to bed.

2008/05/02 – Friday – Travel – Frustration

I thought I might be able to get off work early but no so luck.

Cheryl got home late also. Once we got loaded, first stop was the bank, then dinner to go at BK.

The pick all the correct freeways – I was able to travel about 70 mph most of the way, which I am glad I did.

Once I got to the Stagecoach area it was impossible to find the location to pull into were we were going to be.

After trying to find a location to camp – I said screw it and park it and make it camp.

Come to find out I somehow clipped the back of the RV and broke a light off doing one of my many u-turns.

Well we are here and I will most likely not get a lot of sleep – so time to got bed and get at least 4 hours of sleep.

2008/05/01 – Thursday – Getting ready

Once Cheryl got home, her and Amanda went shopping for stuff for this weekend.

Mom D came by and gave the package for this weekend to me.

Once Cheryl got home we packed all the groceries away, so tomorrow is the rest of the stuff and then head on out.

2008/04/30 – Wednesday – Bump Day

A quick note tonight. I did a load of laundry – hopefully another load tomorrow.

Mom got the stuff from Stagecoach and things are starting to line up. I am still concern how we are going to get everybody everything on Saturday morning, but with cell phones, we will get things resolved.

I finished creating the route to the event and I should be able to get there before half a tank. I am not sure if I am going to fill up at the flying J’s before or after (so I could dump also)

I still did not do the last minute cleanup of the RV yet, so I guess when I load tomorrow, I will also do a last second cleanup items.

2008/04/29 – Tuesday – Quit Day

I had a good conversation with one of our neighbors.

When Cheryl got home I was in the middle of a nap. She told Amanda to watch, when Cheryl turned the TV off I woke up and they both laughed – ha I was listening with my eye shut…

I put in the route for this weekend onto the laptop, so I am ready for that.

2008/04/28 – Monday – Tension

I had to go find Eric so I can pick him up after school, get his bike home and then off to the dentist. Well, the evening did not start off good. I got chewed out by the dentist about Eric not brushing his teeth.

Once Cheryl got home, I hoped into the van and headed for the store get odds and ends.

Once, home I asked Eric to do the cat litter and we had a meltdown – he wanted to go play and he even pushed Cheryl to far and told him not at all for the rest of the remaining evening. Next he still would not do it, so I had to use Time Out, but I was then told by Cheryl I needed to try something else (not sure what else I could do…) and a few other exchanges.

Then before Eric went to bed, the dishwasher was finished so I got into with Amanda – All she had to do was pause the show that she was watching on the computer. I wanted to have her part of doing the dishes done so Eric could load it before he went to bed.

So another night with tension…

O on the RV front – it is not totally completed – I will do the last few things and Amanda has agreed after the next trip she will do some spring cleaning of her stuff in her cubbies.

Chris – Yep, not a good evening……. Hope you had a better one.

2008/04/27 – Sunday – Hot / Relax

Cheryl and I slept in today. Later I found out that Eric and a friend went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping.

We did nothing special today.

I did take a nap before heading for work this evening.

2008/04/26 – Saturday – Fixing Box

Well, I did get up and get my haircut. Once that was done, I drove down to the RV place to get a refund. So now I have to wait for the parts guy to call and find the correct part.

I did a quick stop at The Gear Shop and talked to him for a little bit.

Cheryl, Amanda, Eric and Friend went to get the girls stuff done.

I went and got the wood necessary for fixing the box on the trailer.

It was getting hot, so went in and turned the AC on and relaxed a little bit, waiting for the rest of the family to return.

The kids finally worked on the RV. It is almost completed cleaned – just a few extra things needs to be done.

I finally finished working on the box and painted it so now it is all secured.

The house is hot and I am tired – so off to bed a little early (compared to any other time)

2008/04/25 – Friday – Finding Nothing

I went and stopped at the barbershop and he had a wait about an hour long, so I am opting to get it done tomorrow.

Of course the RV was not touched – I worked on the bedroom some more and made the bed.

Once Cheryl got home, we headed out to get some music sheets that she wanted to get. We went to a music store and they did not have any of the items she was looking for in stock. We then tried another place, but it was closed.

We did stop for dinner at an oriental buffet restaurant. I asked the kids about cleaning the RV and they both said they did a few item (you could have fooled me). I gave them two choices – one do it tonight went it is cooler or tomorrow when it is hotter and they said tomorrow. So we will find out tomorrow. I did go and vacuum the bedroom but the rest of the RV is still a big mess especially where I have pilled all the bed stuff near the door.

Hopefully I wake up a little early to get some of my errands done. So off to bed early hopefully I get to sleep early also.

2008/04/24 – Thursday – Friends

After work a friend came over from the south and we went out for dinner – we had a good time enjoying his company. Amanda and him played on the computers.

I found out that our router only keeps 10 entries in the MAC address – so now I am on a mission to track all the MAC address that attach to our network. When our other friends come over I will then record their address so I can keep track and be able to add/delete when necessary. So far I have 8 address (which includes the one for our friend), but I need to find out the other two address that I did not get yet of our equipment.

O – and the RV still was not touched today…

2008/04/23 – Wednesday - No change

Well I was correct – we did not touch the RV, and tomorrow we have scheduled a dinner out so the RV will not be touched again.

Amanda made dinner again tonight – potato pancakes – it was a cross between hash brown and a pancake.

I did get all my reading done.

O and I did not get the Manager job is was trying for and I have no idea who got it – so all the luck to the new manager…

2008/04/22 – Tuesday – Nothing still

Well the RV is still not done. I really don’t think it will be done tomorrow and especially Thursday so maybe Friday – but defiantly Saturday with me doing some major prodding.

Eric did get more done on his homework and project. Amanda made a good dinner tonight for me from her class work (culinary class) – Cantaloupe Fruit Salad. Cheryl is taking some to work for a friend to try and give some critique.

I did have to reminder her about doing the dishes three times before she did it. Lately I have to tell her about 3 times before she does what has been requested…

I did receive a phone call from a friend to make some type of arrangement for Thursday. I also had to explain my comment about using his cell phone camera – so next time I don’t think he will forget :)

2008/04/21 – Monday – Frustration

Well, the day started with Cheryl not feeling well, so she called sick, I got into work on normal time.

Once, I got home, I noticed that NOTHING was done on the RV. Eric was doing homework and Amanda was on the computer and Cheryl was doing something on a computer also.

I did some reading; Eric finished his homework and started watching the tube.

When I finally started working on the RV, I did not say a thing to anybody, but with several loads of items, nobody moved. I started and will have finished all the laundry from the house and the RV (items that was in the clothes basket). Cheryl did get some items, but mostly food items so she could make her dinner.

Cheryl and Amanda did go grocery shopping.

So another trip and return – and the RV not touched after returning… we will see how long it goes without me blowing up!!!

2008/04/20 – Sunday - Drive Back

The morning as usual, I put everything away while most slept. Once the kids were up and running – they headed for the Halls to dance.

After talking and slowly putting things away and waiting for the kids to finish dancing we left around 1:15.

Our friends followed me most of the way until we both stopped for dinner.

We made it home about 10:40 and got things back into places. Tomrrow we will do the major cleaning up because we are all tired!!!!

2008/04/19 – Saturday – Dancing Fun

Well, the day started a 7:00 – shower and take the dogs for their morning walk/play.

Once I got back, Cheryl was working on getting the food ready for our Breakfast for the youth and friends.

We had quite of few friends come and partake of our offer of breakfast, but not a lot of youth came – o well we had fun.

The kids danced and for lunch we had some item we had in the RV – sandwiches

In the afternoon, we got name of the kids for the square dance competition – we finally got two square.

The group of 11 of us went some funny named Italian place – good food – they serve the food family style.

Back at the RV, we changed and got ready for the evening dancing.

For the competition, Eric was in one team and Amanda was in the other team. We Amanda team won. But both team was did a very good job.

Now I am uploading tons of pictures, which might take several hours via satellite – go see Picture a day or the Family Adventure for the link.
